Here are 15 ways you can build self-confidence:

1. Body posture: The way you stand effects how you feel. Your emotion shifts when you sit or stand a certain way, someone slumped over may appear to feel down and a person upright will come across as confident. Stand tall, roll your shoulders back, carry your chin up and smile often.

2. Compliment: You can get your way around the world with a few good compliments. Compliment others to make them feel great, this will give the mirror effect and will make you feel great in return. Mean what you say, others pick up on sincerity, even if you compliment someone’s shoe color, they will feel amazing. Don’t forget to give yourself compliments often!

3. Dress sharp: You know you feel great in a new or freshly washed shirt, so make it a regular thing to dress your best. Putting in the extra effort to look put together will allow you to feel more confident more often. Plus, others will admire your put together style which will make you feel even better.

7. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else: You are the only one of you in the entire world, there are no two people the same, so embrace your uniqueness. Set your own standards in your life, you are special.

When you know more about who you are and the person you strive to be, the more certain and confident you will be.

11. Take risks: Confident people go for it and take bigger risks. People with low self-confidence tend to stay in the safe zone and not take risks. For example if you have a new idea at work and are afraid of what others will think of it, take the risk and make that idea happen. All inventors and innovators had to take a risk at some point in order to make their ideas a reality.

12. Embrace compliments: Confident people receive compliments with grace and say thank you. You should not make an excuse for a compliment, receive it and say thank you. Most people mean what they complement on, it will make you feel great to acknowledge that someone likes something about you. Also offer sincere compliments to others, this will make you feel secure and give you a huge confidence boost.

13. Accomplish: Take action and do the things that you strive to accomplish in life. This will allow you to feel more fulfilled and allow you to live with more purpose. Also focus on doing the right thing, this always allows for tremendous gratification. Don’t forget to acknowledge what you’ve already achieved.

14. Preparation: Being prepared is one of the most important things you can do for your life overall. When you’re prepared for work or in your personal life, you will have the foundation to success. When you’re prepared you will feel absolutely more confident because you will have a plan, you will be ready and have more knowledge to know what to do next.

15. Be certain: Be sure of what you are doing in life through how you communicate and through your actions, if you’re unsure of something, go back and do more preparing in order to be more certain. For example by asking a friend to go to lunch with you, ask with certainty “Let’s have lunch, it will be great” and not in terms of uncertainty such as “I don’t know if you want to but would you like to have lunch with me?” The later sounds unsure and the first sounds confident and appealing. Communicate in terms of certainty and you will get more positive reactions. This will signify to yourself and others that you are positively a confident person.
