Suarez ban upheld, but allowed to train
Luis Suarez's four-month ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini has been upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but he can train with Barcelona.
Suarez had taken the fight against his suspension, imposed by FIFA during the World Cup finals, to the highest sporting court.
Though he will still be sidelined from match action until midnight on Friday October 24 - leaving him free to make his debut against Real Madrid that weekend - Suarez has won a concession from the court.
CAS has ruled that the Uruguay striker, who joined the club from Liverpool for £75m this summer, should be allowed to train with Barcelona while serving his ban.
A statement read: "The four-month suspension will apply to official matches only and no longer to other football-related activities (such as training, promotional activities and administrative matters)."
The CAS statement appears to indicate that Suarez could make an informal Barcelona debut in the Joan Gamper Trophy friendly against Leon at Camp Nou on Monday night.
Suarez is also permitted to attend matches with his Barcelona team-mates.
The striker was originally banned from all football-related activity, meaning Barcelona were unable to unveil him at the Camp Nou.
