STUDENT, 21 SHOT DEAD AS GANGSTERS TARGET HOMES
A student was shot dead and at least two other people injured during separate attacks in the city over the past two days.
County police commander Benson Kibui said Mr Joseph Mburea, 21, was shot on the left shoulder by unknown gunmen in Marurui, Kasarani on Sunday night.
A resident heard the gunshot and alerted the police. But by the time officers reached at the scene, he had died and his body lay in a pool of blood.
The motive for the killing was not known.
Another man was shot on the stomach and seriously injured in Ruai, only a few metres from where a house help was shot dead three weeks ago.
Mr James Musyoki, a marketing manager with Brookside Dairies was shot as he opened his door.
Five shots
He had heard some commotion outside his house and when he peeped through the window, he saw four men armed with pangas and metal bars.
He alerted his neighbours through his mobile phone and later raised an alarm. Convinced that the gang had left, he opened the door only to be shot.
He crawled back to the house and his wife locked the door. The gunmen shot five other shots, but none of the victim’s family members was injured.
Detectives from Ruai police station visited the scene and recovered five spent cartridges within the compound.
“He is recuperating well in hospital, but we are yet to arrest the attackers,” said the police chief.
Mr Kibui also said that a British woman was injured during a robbery in Karen on Sunday night.
