Nigeria moves up to 30th position in world fifa ranking


With success at the just ended AFCON, Nigeria (previously ranked 52nd in the world and 10th in Africa) are now 30th in the world which is the country’s best position since August 2010 and 4th on the continent. Other teams that moved on the African continent are finalists Burkina Faso who moved from 55th to 37th while the host nation South Africa moved up 25 places to 60th. The number one team in Africa, Côte d’Ivoire moved two places to 12th. Spain still lead the ranking table with Germany in second place, followed by Argentina and England.

African Ranking:
1. Cote d'Ivoire
2. Ghana
3. Mali
4. Nigeria
5. Algeria
6. Tunisia
7. Zambia
8. Central African Republic
9. Burkina Faso
10. South Africa respectively.

    ood movement. Though I do not believe all that FIFA anking as being representative of the standard of football teams. I know its empirical but a lot of times they are so wide off the mark. Imagine Mali being ranked above Nigeria in football! By jove they have not won anything or beaten us in any competion. Purely ridiculous.

    2. the Malian team have been very consistent for the past few years, you don't expect Nigeria to just go top of the ranking because we just won the AFCON. Dont forget that we didnt even qualify for the previous AFCON
