David Letterman Announces Retirement


David Letterman reportedly is planning to retire from The Late Show in 2015. 

Letterman, 66, announced his plan during a taping of The Late Show on Thursday afternoon, CNN reports. 

CBS is expected to issue a statement sometime before the program airs Thursday night. 

The announcement initially leaked out when a performer, Mike Mills of REM, who was at the taping of The Late Show, tweeted out the news. "Dave just announced his retirement," Mills wrote.

"Yea, as you can see, I am in Ghana now. It was a decision I made to get a few things for myself and to get closer to God because so many things happened to me in Nigeria that I was not happy about.everything depends on God. He is my provider. If God wants me to go to Nigeria, no problem, I mean, as long as you are serious with the job."
